Why the song "My Alien Girl", otherwise known as M.A.G. exists, is all explained in the first post, so we won't rehash that.
Lyrically, I think I captured the classic vibe of boy being meets girl being, after she ate his crew mates, then turned on him, so he stuffed her out of the airlock, sorta tragedy. When you don't have rockets and Aliens, The Greeks had to make do with sailing ships and titans, same thing really.
But not the same thing, is the music. With the Lyrics and Music, I wrote and rewrote and wrote it all over again. I'll never open up the sessions again and tweak stuff, so it's good to have given it my best before it is my permanent legacy. Sir is exceedingly happy with what he has crafted :)
M.A.G.
I'm trying to relocate it out of "Danny Woodman" and into "Mars Express". But, it's published and in itunes and everywhere, so it's proving to be a bit of a hassle. Can still add it into the album with it being under the different entity, the minimum is keeping the videos together.
As we aren't a gigging band, we don't get together for rehearsals, just share files around, sometimes collect together at the recording studio. I thought I had the sense to take a photo of the 4 of us, you know, one of those useful things to put in as a background photo for this website and facebook.
But while I was looking through my phone, I found photo's of the studio day, laying down some M.A.G. goodness, though I can't find the band photo that I thought I got the studio owner to take for us.
Anyways, We are a studio band that rarely hits the studio, just tracking in our home studios and pooling the files. But that is due to budget constraints (the album would be finished by now if it weren't for damned, filthy money) and a herding cats issue as touring artists, juggling multiple different bands with other things in their life on top, well, it's hard to pin the guys down.
For M.A.G. We were in the studio in a brief cessation between Covid Lockdowns, so the masks were a necessary nuisance.
Here for example, is Tim, protecting underneath his chin from vile, airborne contagion.

Here is Thom, similarly concerned with his underchin guard. Possibly a warmer underchin is vital to channeling drumming energies?
They are alone in a huge room and doing work, with a need to communicate to people on the other side of thick glass, the mask down was fine.
The movable screen in front of Thom (which in turn is behind the window panes) skews the sense of how big this room at Rangemaster is, that little bit of black on the right is a grand piano, with a church organ behind it.
Dave Leslie took the mask off to give us a warble, just trying out some variations we might do on the melody, can't sing with a mask on, so it was his brief bit of freedom for the day. But just look at all the gear in the racks, there are no shortage of "toys" in this studio.

A bit of Dark Arts being applied by the Magus - err... David Carr on the mixing console, just the 2 of us on a different day doing some mixing, and this is peering through the glass into his console room.

I'm not so good at visual arts. Took these coupla photos out of a sense of duty, rather than - WOW! <point, click> that other people get. So, mental note to self, I will try to document it a bit better - I have a few things from from the song "Leaving the Rock", not much - but hey I tried :)
